Synopsis
The story of immediate post-war migration to Australia as seen through the eyes of three holocaust survivors. They reveal their war experiences, why they wanted to leave Europe, why they chose Australia, and their expectations. Their perceptions are set against the controversial reactions of the Australian press and public to Jewish refugess at that time. This conflict was highlighted by the arrival of 700 displaced Jewish persons, on board the SS Johan de Witt in March 1947 - one of only two completely Jewish ships to enter Australian ports at that time.
