Synopsis

John Macumba was born with cerebral palsy, in the remote central desert of the Pitjanjatjara Lands, and later fostered to a white family in Adelaide where his foster father was a highly principled man from whom Macumba learnt to persevere against the odds. As a man, John returned to the desert and went through initiation before moving to Alice Springs where he founded the first Aboriginal media organisation CAAMA. He now runs his own production company Macumba Media, and has an MA in Communications. A charismatic character with a razor wit and a winning smile, John is a natural leader and born raconteur. From the Message Stick series.
