On The Level

Each morning a mother and daughter make a ten minute car trip together, but with different destinations and different agendas. So familiar are they with each other and this routine, that any conversation seems out of place. Today though, it is hot. Somehow the heat makes the routine less comfortable than usual. Instead, it grates.
