Synopsis

The Palmer Gold Rush was one of the most short-lived, bizarre, and yet productive gold rushes in the history of Australian mining. At one time 20,000 Chinese coolies worked on the goldfields, and ships arrived from all over the world, making the wharf at Cooktown a Babylon of multilingual chaos.
