Synopsis

On 27 May 1967, Australian citizens voted to include Aboriginal people in the census, and to allocate Commonwealth funding towards Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples. This documentary talks to the women who were a part of the movement leading up to the referendum about their experiences at that time. The strength of the 'fire in the belly' is still in these women today, as we bring them together to talk about their experiences of over 30 years ago. From the Message Stick series.
