Walnut and Honey Suckle

As a child I said my prayers beside my bed. The prayers my grandmother taught me. Now I remember the song she sang me as she hugged me, 'I love you a bushel and a peck'. I remember how she sang as she helped us eat our dinner and how she recited poetry as we looked after our horses. She read the Bible and taught us to be as fierce as a war horse and she loved Blake. She liked that Blake was on the side of the underdog fighting for peace in the Vietnam War years. And now she is gone and left us her songs and poetry to echo through my universe.
