We Are Not Powerless

In 2014 a small group of refugees defied authorities and started the first refugee-led school in Indonesia, inspiring a refugee-led education revolution that stretches around the world. 10 years later the school’s co-founder, Muzafar Ali, visits the original teachers and students to discover how the school transformed their lives. All have been successful in their new countries with some becoming medical students, teachers, lawyers and filmmakers. Others are still stuck in Indonesia. We Are Not Powerless takes us inside their community to share the possibilities and devastations of life as a refugee, and how one brave act can change the lives of thousands.
