As a teenager he realised all he wanted to be was a drover, to do that he only had one option, which was to break the law and escape Cherbourg. He left behind his family and friend and the country he loved. His love of horses and skill as a horseman led him to Australian icon RM Williams where he became his right hand man and Head Stockman of Rockybar. Today he reflects on his life through his art and the trail of respect he creates – knowing all he ever wanted to do was become a stockman.

Badu Island (along with nearby Moa and Mabuiag) once had a feared reputation as an island of head hunters. Until the 1870s, when pearlers started to establish bases, warfare, turtle and dugong hunting were the main activities of the men here; by the early 1880s the islanders were becoming dependent on wages earned as lugger crew and missionaries converted the people. The people of Mabuiag Island had a reputation for hostility to outsiders until they were converted to Christianity in the early 1870s.

Led by Walbunja Elder Aunty Loretta Parsley, a group of a Walbunja and Yuin custodians from the South Coast of NSW have come together with the University of Wollongong, Batemans Bay Campus, to create a possum skin cloak. The site of Batemans Bay Campus is close to the ancient learning and birthing site at Hanging Rock. Hanging Rock itself, was demolished by the local council in the 1990s.

In 1923 a policeman, Constable McLeay and a police boy came to the Dampier Peninsula WA to arrest a Bardi man, John Boxer, who had been accused of stealing from white settlers. They took him in a dinghy across rough tidal waters to an island in search of the stolen property. The boat got taken under and the policeman drowned in a whirlpool. John Boxer recorded his story in Bardi in 1970 and this archival recording is used as the basis for a subtitled animation of the story.

The Musical, a new piece telling the community's story with dignity, pride and celebration. It was the culmination of two year's work: a collaboration between the people of Yarrabah and the Opera Australia Communities Partnerships Team. Featuring Casey Donovan, Nick Backstrom, local legend Casey Donovan and directed by Rhoda Roberts, the musical told the story of Yarrabah's history.
