The Isabellas
On New Year's Eve 1991, 56 Chinese refugees landed in a wooden boat, codenamed Isabella, on the shores of far north western Australia. After weeks in the desert all survived but were soon placed in detention at Port Hedland with more than 300 other Asian boat people - all waiting for refugee status. THE ISABELLAS follows Chen Xing Liang, one of the leaders, back to the Kimberley to tell his story.
