Painless
PAINLESS explores sibling rivalry within the context of the grand curative ambitions of modern medicine. The desire of George, a humble nurse, to become 'a miracle worker' reflects the gothic and alchemic nature of this particular place of healing. Like Dr. Faustus, George makes a deal with his own Mephistophelean consciousness and deludes himself that an act of pride and selfishness has indeed resulted in a cure for the incurable.
