Michael Robertson

Michael Robertson is one of Australia's most prolific filmmakers, producing genre-style films for worldwide audiences. A graduate of the University of New South Wales and the University of Southern California film school; He entered the industry as a writer/director of corporate films before moving into feature movies. As a tv commercials director he won Cannes Lion, CLIO, Mobius, and New York Festivals awards. His first film ‘The Hard Word’ won Best Film at the Sydney Film Festival and an Australian Film Institute Award. Michael directed ‘The Best of Friends’, ‘Going Sane’ and ‘Back of Beyond’. He established Prodigy Movies and produced ‘Black Water’ (2008); ‘Road Train’ (2010),:‘The Reef’ (2011) and ‘The Pack’ (2015). He set up Thrills & Spills with fellow Aussie producer, Neal Kingston, producing ‘Black Water: Abyss’ (2019), ‘Great White’ (2020) and ‘The Reef: Stalked ‘(2022).
