The Screen Guide

Acclaimed filmmaker George Gittoes, director of Soundtrack to War, Rampage and Love City Jalalabad, brings his What the World Needs Now! trilogy to a close with SNOW MONKEY. Filmed in Afghanistan through 2014 when foreign forces leave and an internal power struggle begins, it is about whether the ideals and dreams fostered during the time of foreign military occupation can continue once outside protection has gone. SNOW MONKEY is a beautiful, humane, surrealist and no-holds-barred story from one of documentary cinema’s most exciting and daring visionaries.
