The Screen Guide

The challenges of the 1960s and early '70s produced a new social climate in Australia, and many Australians were prepared, for the first time, to opt for a more individual, alternative lifestyle. Some people rejected city life for rural communes, others set up communes in the city. While only a minority adopted totally such a radically different way of life, people generally became less conformist in dress, entertainment and lifestyle.
