Two programs featuring the women writers who attended the sixth International Feminist Book Fair in Melbourne 1994; reading from their own works and discussing contemporary issues. Program 1: Not Vanishing - speaks with women writers about the social, cultural and political issues which flow from the experience of growing up in colonised societies. Features Jane Tapsubei Creider, the first Nandi Kenyan novelist; Pat Torres, a Yawuru storyteller from Broome; Merlinda Bobis, a Bikol Philipino performance poet; Chrystos, a native American poet and 'troublemaker'; Powhiri Rika Heke, Maori poet from Aotearoa New Zealand. Program 2. Life On The Rim - explores the diversity of attitudes towards the biggest issues of the 20th century - population growth, human rights, cultural identity, the environment and sovereignty.
