The Screen Guide

The story of Tommy Smith, Australia's most successful horse trainer who has won over $26 million in prize money, and been responsible for the success of some of Australia's top horses. But despite winning nearly every other big race in Australia, Tommy Smith had a run of bad luck with the Melbourne Cup, and did not have a win from 1955 until a dramatic comeback in 1981 - the year that also saw him celebrate his 30th consecutive year as the leading Sydney trainer.
