The Screen Guide

LOVE AND WORK reincorporates, reflects on and 'narrativises' director David Perry's early experimental work and 'video diaries', marking a return to personal video/filmmaking. Phil Butel is the central character in this avowedly autobiographical work. We meet him in the early '70s when he has recently returned from overseas with his daughter. Travel, work, politics and broken affairs lead Phil to Queensland and back again to Sydney where he begins making films totally unlike his past work.
