Three Pacific nations, Japan, the USSR and the USA, have emerged as world powers in the 20th century. Each saw the Pacific as a natural area of expansion and, in the process, they have been allies, enemies and now rivals. It has made the once sleepy Pacific one of the most dynamic regions on Earth. This series will show a forgotten face of the Cold War and how, with the demise of US/USSR antagonism, Japan has emerged the winner.
