Don Dunstan sees the isolation of Australia's city dwellers and the development of city planning and architecture as further examples of the impractical and inappropriate adaptation of Europeans to the real conditions of Australia. The design of housing and the insistence of Australians on owning their own home have led to a lack of community interaction and a sense of isolation in our urban lifestyle.
