Updated Finance Plans Available

20 February 2025

Screen Australia has released updated Finance Plans for all scripted, documentary and online programs (features and episodic). These plans are now available to download for use when applying for Screen Australia funding.

The two updated Finance Plans – Theatrical Feature Film and General – aim to improve efficiency and streamline the application process for production funding. They also consolidate several existing templates for different programs.

The revised Finance Plans cover:
  • Feature Film Production
  • General Television Drama
  • Children’s Television Drama
  • Documentary Production: Producer Program
  • Documentary Production: Commissioned Program
  • Online Production
  • First Nations Feature Production
  • First Nations TV Drama Production
  • First Nations Documentary Production
The key changes include:
  • New dropdown menus to confirm documentation status and types of finance.
  • A new tab with definitions for common industry financing terms used in the finance plan, including for the relevant sources and types of finance.
  • Removal of the previous grant funding section (each grant funding contribution is now a separate line item).
Updated Finance Plans available to download:
  • Finance Plan – Theatrical Feature Film
    • For feature films (scripted or documentary) that are intending to apply for the Producer Offset 40% rebate (for feature films produced for commercial cinema exhibition).
  • Finance Plan – General
    • For other formats intending to apply for the Producer Offset 30% rebate (for otherwise eligible scripted or documentary projects produced for TV or subscription services).
    • For projects intending to apply for Online Production.
    • For projects not eligible for the Producer Offset.
Screen Australia requires all applicants to download and utilise the new Finance Plans before submitting a new application.

Please note that the revised Finance Plans do not apply to the Emerging Gamemakers Fund or Games Production Fund. The relevant finance plan for these programs can be found here.

For more information about these updates, please refer to the FAQs document (PDF).

If you have any questions regarding using the revised plans in an application, please contact Program Operations on 1800 507 901 or for any other queries, please email [email protected].
