BELOW THE LINE

The initiatives below are designed to advance practitioners skills in below-the-line roles and improve the industry’s capability to meet production demand and to set the sector up for a consistent pipeline of work.

Who: BTL Next Step (stage 1) invites applications from production companies and screen businesses across all genres who are able to provide Placee opportunities for mid-career practitioners (1st Assistant Director, Art Director, Line Producer, Location Manager, Post Production Supervisor, Production Accountant, Production Manager, Special Effects Supervisor, Sound Designer) to be mentored, offered a shadow placement and attain a credit that will progress them along their career pathway.
What: Up to $50,000 per Placee opportunity (total all-inclusive for Placee).

Who: Applications are now open for mid-career practitioners (“Placees”) to participate in the BTL Next Step program. These are paid opportunities for competitively assessed and selected mid-career practitioners ready to step up into one of the roles identified in BTL Next Step Stage 1.
What: Placees will be mentored and attain a credit that will create capacity in their career pathway, elevate their consideration for future senior/heads of department leadership positions in their given crew role; and, over time address the skills shortage being experience in these roles.

Who: This program invites applications from production companies, game development studios and screen businesses able to provide skills development through structured work-based learning and training as part of a structured skills development plan, with the nomination of a Skills Development Officer to oversee the implementation of the plan
What: Successful applications will receive up to $80,000 to deliver the program.

What: The Strategic Opportunities Fund supports a small number of Industry Development initiatives that are aimed at providing skills development and training for the screen industry. Initiatives should be responsive to industry needs and be designed to assist in the growth of a sustainable, diverse and inclusive film, television and games sector.  Applicants are required to discuss the scope and details of their proposal for their strategic opportunity initiative and confirm funding availability with either the Head of Industry Development or the Industry Development Manager. Applications may be made for a minimum of $10,000 and a maximum of $150,000.

Who: This initiative is designed to train and support up to 12 individuals in the role of Access Coordinator. The Access Coordinator role is intended for people from the Deaf/Disabled and/or Neurodivergent (DDN) communities who are committed to improving disability representation and removing barriers to inclusion.
What: Participants will attend a week-long training program in Sydney in October that will cover best practice training and standard working templates from world leading experts Bridge 06, and support for the following 6 months as they transition into working in the role.
