Review of Interactive games and multiplatform funding

Funding was discontinued in May 2013.

In its capacity as the Federal Government’s key agency for providing support to the screen production sector, Screen Australia was charged in November 2012 with administering the new $20 million Interactive Games Fund to help build a sustainable base for the Australian interactive entertainment industry.

Guidelines

Draft guidelines: On 15 February 2013, following extensive industry consultation, Screen Australia released draft guidelines for a suite of new interactive and multi-platform programs which incorporate Federal Government funding through the Interactive Games Fund, as well as funding previously provided through the agency's former multiplatform programs. Comments are open until 1 March 2013.

Options paper

Australian Interactive Games Fund: Options Paper For Comment was released on 10 December, and Screen Australia welcomed feedback until 25 January 2013.

The paper was intended to stimulate discussion and included a number of key questions on which we wanted input. It outlined Screen Australia’s aims in providing funds to the industry and the principles underpinning how it might do this to make a meaningful impact. It also proposed several program options for targeting the support.

  • Public forums and webinar

Screen Australia invited the games sector to public forums in Melbourne, Sydney, Adelaide and Brisbane. We also held a webinar on 18 December.
