What is the Producer Offset?
The Producer Offset is a refundable tax offset (rebate) for producers of Australian films. It is worth:
- 40 per cent of the QAPE incurred by the applicant company in the making of a feature film, and
- 20 per cent of the QAPE incurred by the applicant company for other eligible formats such as television series, documentaries, animation series and online content.
A feature film is the only format which receives a 40 per cent Producer Offset. A feature film is defined in the ITAA as a 'film produced for exhibition to the public in cinemas'. See the Feature Film and Distribution 2.5.4 of the Producer Offset Guidelines.
