Funding programs

First Nations inDUSTRY SUPPORT

Who: Screen sector organisations and agencies to run professional development workshops and special initiatives that will better target the development needs of their local First Nations screen practitioners.
What: A grant of up to $50,000 per applicant per financial year.

First Nations internships

Who: First Nations practitioners whose careers would benefit from an attachment to a person, production or organisation.
What: Up to $20,000, supported by a budget.

First Nations Travel grants

Who: First Nations filmmakers whose project has been selected for a key international or Australian festival or award, or where travel to an event would help advance the practitioner's career or project slate.
What: Up to $6,000 for international travel and up to $3,000 for travel within Australia.


Special initiatives

The First Nations Department has previously allocated funds to initiatives designed to address specific objectives. This includes targeted practitioner development programs, as well as short drama and documentary initiatives providing opportunities for talented First Nations filmmakers and storytellers in other media to develop their skills and experience as a stepping stone to longer formats and more sustainable careers.
