Applications open for Rotterdam Lab 26–29 January 2014

Screen Australia, in partnership with the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), is again offering special assistance for up to three producers to attend the Rotterdam Lab, organised as part of CineMart at IFFR 2014.

The Rotterdam Lab is a training program for emerging feature film producers from participating countries. It is designed to provide them with the skills and knowledge to work in the international marketplace. IFFR organises panel sessions and networking opportunities each day with invited key members of the industry, focusing on international feature film sales, financing, distribution and pitching.

The Lab also provides opportunities for participants to experience the film festival and the CineMart/marketplace environment, with organised networking and social functions held each evening.

Emerging Australian producers wishing to apply for a place in the Lab must have producer credits on a short film, feature or documentary that has performed well at recent key international film festivals. To get the most out of the Lab experience, applicants should have a feature film project in development which is of a budget and style suited to the festival and potentially ready for submission to CineMart.

Screen Australia will select three producers to participate in the 2014 Rotterdam Lab. Each will receive five nights’ accommodation and $3,000 towards travel costs to attend.

Guidelines and an application form are available from the Screen Australia website.

Information about films that have screened at the IFFR, as well as tips for attending, can be found in Screen Australia’s festival profiles and on the IFFR website. More information about CineMart and the Rotterdam Lab is available through Screen Australia’s pitching forum profiles

The deadline for applications is 5pm Friday 8 November 2013. All enquiries to Dale Fairbairn, Marketing Manager – Markets & Industry.
