Screen Australia is a Federal Government agency charged with supporting Australian screen development, production and promotion. Screen Australia supports talent, quality, innovation and cultural value through programs that increase the ambitions, risk tolerance and diversity of Australian storytelling for local and international audiences.

ABOUT THE ROLE

We are seeking a Senior Publicist who will be a strong advocate for Screen Australia, driving media narratives about the agency and the Australian screen industry broadly, with the aim of increasing industry, government and general public engagement and awareness. This role works across all areas of the agency to build awareness of initiatives, funding opportunities and research. The role supports the work of the CEO, COO and Senior Manager, Marketing & Communications through strategic media relations around industry topics, content and policy matters.

About you

  • Substantial experience in a fast-faced communications role, including publicity within the entertainment, media or arts sectors. Experience in publicity for film, television, games, online content and/or government will be highly regarded.
  • Proven track record of working autonomously on large-scale projects and/or initiatives.
  • Strong experience in issues management.
  • Ability to work with senior stakeholders (including industry leaders, government officials and executives).
  • Proven ability dealing with media under pressure and to tight deadlines, and resolving issues end-to-end with successful outcomes.
  • Exceptional written communication skills with the ability to quickly produce compelling, accurate and informative copy.
  • Experience using social media and video as integrated components of public relations campaigns.
