AFI Docs (formerly Silverdocs) is a five day documentary film festival based in Washington DC which was created by the American Film Institute and honours serious independent story telling. It has been running since 2003 and its organisers seek to stimulate national public discourse on some of the important issues of the day. The festival historically attracts over 27,000 documentary enthusiasts, policy-makers and thought leaders.
