FIVE GREAT* REASONS FOR FILLING OUT YOUR ABS PRODUCTION INDUSTRY SURVEY

We know, we know. You just haven’t had the chance to look at that notification letter from the Australian Bureau of Statistics (ABS) yet.

But instead of letting the Production Industry survey wait in your drawer any longer here’s why you should be filling it out right now. Well, read this article first, then go fill it out.

1. You’re the chosen one

One of them, anyway. You’re like Charlie and this is the Golden Ticket. You’re like Neo.
Not everyone gets sent these notification letters – only a random sample of the screen sector. And they chose you!... And if you didn’t get selected for the survey? Well… that’s ok.

2. You’ll be wasting your own money

If you don’t fill out this form, you’re effectively throwing away your own taxpayer money, part of which was allocated by the Federal Government to commission this survey. Why? Because it informs policy decisions, like the introduction of the Producer Offset, which has become one of the most effective screen policies in our history, delivering projects such as Mad Max: Fury Road, injecting millions of dollars into the economy – and Oscars and AACTAs and BAFTAs oh my!

3. It’s online for the first time!

Nothing ever goes wrong with online surveys. (Too soon?)

4. You’re making history

Do you remember when Sydney was announced as winning the right to host the 2000 Olympics? And when Priscilla, Queen of the Desert was released?

Well guess what else happened in 1993/94? That’s right. The first survey of the Film and Television industry was conducted, and it’s been measured periodically ever since, with digital games businesses integrated in 2011/12.

Now it’s your turn to be a part of Australian history - screen policy is quite literally at your fingertips.

5. You’re legally required to do it.

Kind of a big incentive, really.
