The Screen Guide

In 1942 Roy McIvor as one of 235 Indigenous residents of Hopevale, North Queensland, who were forcibly removed more than 1500km from their land into a government exile settlement at Woorabinda by armed forces. In the 1950’s, after 10 years in exile, Roy and his people returned home to rebuild thir community. After years of working and travelling across Queensland, Roy has emerged from this tragedy to become a pivotal influence in the struggle for Indigenous rights. His upbringing, faith and experience has lead him to become a strong community leader.
