A celebration of the 'frigid exotic', a journey into abstraction. Grand vistas, ageless beauty and a never-setting sun. Few people ever get to Antarctica, less go there to paint. Steven Eastaugh has travelled for the last 23 years, calls nowhere home, feeds off isolation and suffers from a self-diagnosed affliction called still sickness. How does he connect with the pristine environment, deal with the bitter climate and then translate that experience onto canvas? Set amongst the backdrop of the coldest, windiest, driest continent on Earth, we witness the working process and creation of over 200 individual works.
