The Screen Guide

In Australia's Southeast corner lies the Gippsland watershed, a unique drainage basin where each year water flows from the snow-covered alpine peaks to the fertile coastal lakes. This is the story of the water's journey over the course of four seasons. Following the winter snow in the high country the spring thaw sends an icy torrent crashing through the mountain ash forest where summer fires cause havoc. Eventually the rivers emerge onto the flood plains of the coastal Gippsland lakes, but sometimes they can be swamped by the autumn floods before being pushed by the tides through a single gap in the sandy outer barrier and into the great Southern Ocean. FROM THE SNOW TO THE SEA explores the vital connection between the water and the wildlife in this unique corner of the arid continent.
