1989 Sheffield - Daniel and Alison fall in love against a backdrop of music, family anguish, poverty and changing times. Daniel was the first boy to make Alison a mix tape they thought they would be together forever, so why did Alison run away? 20 years later, Daniel remains in Sheffield living a stable, predictable life; Alison a seemingly perfect life in sun-soaked Sydney. When Daniel follows Alison on Twitter, they reconnect to their past by sending each other songs. So begins a new mix tape. They have spouses and families of their own now, but they’re not really breaking any rules, are they? Until one of them does something that will change everything…
