The Screen Guide

Otto Meets Otto is an intimate family portrait of Barry Otto, Australian theatre and film icon, seen through the lens of his writer/director daughter, Gracie. The film sets out to revisit, together, scenes from his life, the highs and lows and contradictions of a 50-year career working with a roll-call of Australian celebrities, his increasing eccentricity, dwindling work opportunities and sadness as the frailty of his body continues to let him down. Running parallel to these father/daughter adventures is the story of his determination to perform the theatre show ‘A Stretch of the Imagination', a one-man theatre classic of comedy and pathos, about an old man facing death.
