In 1996 at an exclusive high school in Melbourne, a clique of cool girls known as The Academy lose their minds when they return from break to discover the prestigious Gymnastics Scholarship has been awarded to CHRISSY, a Zimbabwean student from the local public school. Fuelled by privilege and entitlement, and with full parental support, the girls reference Australia’s inhospitable immigration policies to justify their position. Told through the eyes of Academy-wannabe VICTORIA, hostilities come to a head when SARAH J, the former star gymnast and leader of the pack, refuses to back down.
