In the archive Video and online markets Number of video units sold by distributors to retail (sell-through) and rental outlets, 1990–2008 In 2008, the number of wholesale video units sold by distributors fell by 11 per cent, similar to the fall in wholesale value. The growing popularity of Blu-ray has seen unit sales of formats other than DVD rise for the second consecutive year; however, at around just 2 per cent of all sales, this has not been significant enough to prevent an overall decline.
