Talent Development

Brendan Fletcher and Barefoot Communications Pty Ltd (Mad Bastards, The Nightingale and the Rose, We Don't Need a Map) will work with Wendy Mather at Generate Pty Ltd to create a Business Development Plan, constructing a viable strategy to maximise the opportunities for the company.

Producer Bridget Callow-Wright, chosen as a SPA 'One To Watch' in 2015,  will undertake an international placement with Stay Gold Features working closely with producer Daniela Taplin Lunberg (Beasts of No Nation, The Family Fang, The Kids are All Right) with a focus on development, financing and production of feature films in the US market.

Revlover Films producer Martha Coleman will engage a business consultant to create a viable Business Plan to achieve sustainable business.

Producer Monique de Groot has secured a placement with Rabbit Bandini Productions in Los Angeles. Monique will work with founding producers James Franco and Vince Jolivette (Spring Breakers, As I Lay Dying, Howl) on a range of new feature projects in development through to production in the role of Creative Executive.

Writer and developer Martine Delaney will undertake a domestic attachment with Roar Film (Bali High Wedding, Death or Liberty) over 5months in Hobart alongside Founder/Creative Director Steve Thomas. Martine will observe and engage with Roar Films development and production process across their current slate of projects including drama series, feature film and documentary.

Writer/director Lucy Gaffy (Dream Baby) has secured a 10 week placement at the prestigious Juilliard School of Drama in New York City. Under the supervision of Acting Artistic Director Richard Feldman, Lucy will be the first Australian to be offered the opportunity to observe the final semester of the Master of Fine Arts in Drama and audit the entire Spring Semester as the students move towards their graduation play.

Writer and script editor Mithila Gupta has secured a three month domestic placement at Blackfella Films (Redfern Now, Deep Water) in Sydney. Under the guidance of Head of Drama Miranda Dear, Mithila will participate in the early writing processes of a feature film, currently being developed by Blackfella Films.

Director Audrey Lam (Magic Miles) will proactively build and broaden her creative and business skills at the well regarded Locarno Filmmakers Academy in Switzerland.

Director Claire McCarthy (The Waiting City) will work with Ryan Murphy Productions (American Horror Story, Glee) in Los Angeles on the upcoming production Feud.

Sector Development

Breakthrough Program by CuriousWorks’, a leading model of story development which places community partnerships at the heart of the process and builds upon this strength with high level industry support. The program will focus on identifying, engaging with and building the capacity of six talented storytellers from diverse backgrounds in Western Sydney, to hone their skills and present their breakthrough story concept to industry partners. CuriousWorks has also secured local funding contributors for this program, which they hope to extend into a second year.

The ICE Screen Cultures Program is an event partnership with ICE for a program of workshops, masterclasses, mentorships and other professional development opportunities for emerging Western Sydney screenwriters and producers.

I.C.E. Screen Cultures Program 2017-2018 - a Skills and Professional Development Program for emerging screenwriters and screen content producers based in Western Sydney. The Program focuses on developing the skills of emerging screen producers and screenwriters – as the key creatives who will be instrumental in initiating and developing new screen content from the region. The Program supports participants from CALD backgrounds and other equity groups, and will build on strategic partnerships with industry peaks to realise industry-focused outcomes.

MEAA’s Equity Foundation Diversity Showcase. This program will facilitate connections that will lead to the creation of substantial, sustainable and enduring roles for writers, directors and performers from a diverse background in Australian stories.

Screenworks On Demand by Northern Rivers Screenworks will see the production of 25 webisodes to develop a slate of content and create a revenue structure for long-term funding.

Talent Camp, created by AFTRS and Screen Australia, a project which aims to increase diversity and inclusion in the screen industries by providing career enhancement opportunities to talented storytellers from diverse backgrounds.
