Homecoming Queens: meet the filmmakers

The creators of new SBS On Demand series Homecoming Queens take us behind the scenes of their comedy inspired by real life.

Homecoming Queens co-writers and creators Michelle Law and Chloë Reeson and director/executive producer Corrie Chen talk about how the idea came about, what makes it a unique story on screens today, and what the web series format offers.

The semi-autobiographical series is based in Brisbane and looks at the lives and friendship of two women – Michelle and Chloë – in their mid-20s after being diagnosed with chronic illnesses.

“Michelle plays herself and Liv Hewson plays the character Chloë,” Reeson says.

“I think Liv approached the character as someone separate to me, which I think was a great thing to do, because it just allowed a greater depth and allowed a new perspective and opened that character up to new interpretations.”

Homecoming Queens is the first SBS On Demand original commission and premieres on the platform from 12 April 2018.
