Toronto Film Festival Programmer visits Australia

Screen Australia will host a visit later this month by Jane Schoettle, Programmer for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF), to view new Australian features for possible selection in TIFF 2011.

Ms Schoettle will visit Sydney and is also scheduled to attend the opening days of the Bigpond Adelaide Film Festival 2011. She is a great supporter of Australian film and has been responsible for many Australian films having their international premieres at the prestigious Toronto Film Festival.

Australian films screened at TIFF 2010 included Blame (w/d: Michael Henry, p: Ryan Hodgson, Melissa Kelly, Michael Robinson), Griff the Invisible (w/d: Leon Ford, p: Nicole O’Donohue) and Wasted on the Young (w/d: Ben C Lucas, p: Janelle Landers, Aidan O’Bryan) in the Discovery section.

In addition to this, Jucy (d: Louise Alston, w: Stephen Vagg, p: Kelly Chapman) screened in Contemporary World Cinema, while Machete Maidens Unleashed! (w/d: Mark Hartley, p: Veronica Fury) and Mother of Rock: The Life and Times of Lillian Roxon (w/d: Paul Clarke, p: Robert de Young) screened in the Real to Reel section.

The Toronto International Film Festival will be held in September 2011.
