Changes to 2012/13 round schedule for feature film and TV drama production investment

The pressure on Screen Australia production funds in the lead-up to the 14 December 2012 Board meeting was extremely high, with an unprecedented number of quality feature film and television projects seeking support.

As a consequence of the results of the December Board meeting, and anticipated outcomes of the now-closed funding round leading to the February 2013 Board meeting, Screen Australia’s $42 million budget for drama production investment this financial year has been fully committed. This means the following changes have become necessary for both feature and television rounds.

Board meeting 3 April 2013 (application deadline 21 January 2013)
This will be a Letter of Interest round only. Unfortunately we cannot accept any production funding applications at this time.

Board meeting 8 May 2013 (application deadline 18 March 2013)
There will not be a television round in May.

Board meeting 25 June 2013 (application deadline 8 April 2013)
This round will be open for feature film (production funding and Letter of Interest) and for television applications. Availability of funds for this round will be limited, and will depend on funds previously committed to lapsed projects becoming available.

Screen Australia is aware that this news will be disruptive for some producers. It is very unfortunate that we are in this position; however, please stay in touch with your Investment Manager as your project progresses.

Documentary rounds are unaffected, with 1 February the next deadline for the General Documentary Program, National Documentary Program and International Documentary Program.
