Emerging Writers' Incubator – expressions of interest for host production companies

Screen Australia is seeking expressions of interest from production companies to take part in the first year of placements for the Emerging Writers' Incubator.

The Emerging Writers' Incubator is run in partnership with SBS, Screen NSW, Screen Canberra, Screen Queensland, Screenwest, Film Victoria and the South Australian Film Corporation, and with the assistance of the Australian Writers’ Guild.

Under the program, six successful writers from backgrounds and with lived experiences currently underrepresented in the sector will be employed for 12 months in six production companies around the country, with placements commencing from July 2021.

The production companies will each receive up to $80,000 to cover the salary for the writer, and are expected to facilitate opportunities and support the writer to perform and develop their skills.

Expressions of Interest are open for companies to participate in the first year of the initiative from July 2021 – June 2022. Information on eligibility requirements is available here

Submit your expression of interest by Friday 23 April 2021 to EmergingWritersIncubator

Successful companies will be notified by 28 May 2021.

More information for writers wishing to participate in this program will be available soon. If you are an individual interested in applying, please contact your local state screen agency.
