The Screen Guide

The struggle of young Maltese boxer Patrick Axisa to turn professional. His father and trainer, Frank, also a former boxer, arrived in Australia in 1957, and is determined to move Pat into the big time and big money. The program looks at Patrick's lifestyle as a local hero in Cabramatta, a Sydney suburb; his amateur successes; and his first pro bout, which he hopes will lift him out of his directionless life in the outer western suburbs. For Patrick, it proves to be a daunting experience.
