The Screen Guide

BACK TO THE YUMBA focuses on Yumba, a small Aboriginal community on the banks of the Maranoa River, outside of Mitchell in southern Queensland. The story is told through the eyes of Frank Saunders, the last student at the Yumba School which closed in 1968. Along with other community members, Frank relives his childhood experiences. The sudden and tragic demise of the Yumba in 1968 meant the end of the settlement, but not the community.
