The Screen Guide

A touching journey into the lives of a group of people with diverse pasts who found a common future in Georges Hall, a small Australian suburb like many others in Sydney. But for many new arrivals from Europe after World War II it became the focus and promise of a new start. BALTS AND SCREWS AND KANGAROOS drops in on a reunion of 'old boys and old girls' from the late '40s, '50s and '60s. Some were born in Australia, some were ordinary migrants, while others came here from refugee camps in war torn Europe. Their stories are told through personal recollections, black and white photographs and music from the era.
