The Screen Guide

BEARS OF THE SUN AND THE MOON looks at the plight of the Asiatic Black Bear and the smallest of the species, the appealing little Sun Bear. Traditionally milked for its bile, sought after by the restaurant trade, the Black Bear is in deep trouble, while the Sun Bear is being dumped across Asia after outliving its novelty as an exotic pet. Filmed in China, Thailand, Cambodia and Australia, this is a positive look at how the conservation movement is making inroads into grotesque practices that have left two of our bear species high on the endangered list.
