The Screen Guide

The convict settlement in Moreton Bay in 1824 was almost named Edinglassie, a combination of Edinburgh and Glasgow. Instead, the name Brisbane was chosen to honour the Governor of New South Wales, Sir Thomas Brisbane. Brisbane was long considered the most Australian of our capital cities, having developed a casual lifestyle, and architecture, to cope with the climate. But in recent years, a new Brisbane has taken shape.
