The Screen Guide

1940 and the world is at war again. WWI veteran Jack, laments the sacrifice of good friends gone. His self-destruction comes to a halt when he encounters Masaru, a Japanese prisoner of war. For Masaru the decision to stay alive is as difficult as the decision to die. These two men find a bond: unknowingly there is a desire for hope. The film is not about heroism. It's about the legacy of war through the eyes of the ordinary men who survive it. For Masaru the film ends in ineffable tragedy, and for Jack, life is once again completely altered.
