The Screen Guide

Vincent Lingari placed the Gurindji people on the map when they pioneered the land rights struggle in Australia. Nearly 40 years later, three young Gurindji students made a new history, drawing on their remarkable heritage to achieve an academic first. This documentary profiles the first Aboriginal students to buck the system and complete their secondary schooling entirely within their home community – an uplifting story about how committed teachers, students and community can successfully achieve educational outcomes and raise remote education standards. From the Message Stick series.
