The Screen Guide

HARRIET'S GARDEN is a film with a diverse appeal. In the tradition of Roald Dahl, it is at once a horror film and a children's film. Children enjoy it because they are the main protagonists, but it appeals to a diverse audience as well. Harriet is a young girl growing up in a small country town, who's dull and grim life is often pervaded and enhanced by a strong and vivid imagination. The story builds to a suspenseful end, where her fantasy, reality and brutality collide.
