The Screen Guide

An arts biography about the life and work of German born, Jewish Australian composer George Dreyfus. With a career spanning over half a century, Dreyfus is one of Australia's most successful, innovative, and prolific composers. He is also an idiosyncratic and perplexing figure as he still chases the recognition that some feel has unfairly eluded him. Featuring wonderful musical performances staged especially for the film, this is a rich exploration of a man who is as colourful as his music. As he wrote on the score of his second symphony - 'life is too serious, to be taken seriously'.
