In war, willing or otherwise, there are no winners. Everyone, in some way, becomes a victim. Flight Lieutenant James Callan, a Lancaster bomber pilot, learns through his caretaker, Madame, a French widower doctor, that alliances and sympathies have no place in war, the painful consequences of which can never be accurately predicted.
