The Screen Guide

'He's taken the land. He believes it is his. He won't give it back.' A documentary about the impact of the Kalgoorlie gold rush on the Aboriginal people in the region. Aboriginal fringe dwellers of the goldfields of Western Australia tell their own story of what happened to their people when they were invaded by tens of thousands of miners in the great Kalgoorlie gold rush of the 1890s. The film shows the conditions of the survivors living in horrific poverty next to flourishing gold and nickel mines and uranium developments, and of the Maralinga tests and those who died there, as the victims to British bombs and official neglect.
